those are pretty comfy cars... if its worth it to you you need to have the engine rebuilt... running it hot caused the rings to expand on the cyl walls and sounds like you have blown a head gasget where coolant is getting into the engine... you could go to a pick and pull or something and find a engine also... Id jus have it rebuilt if you really like the car... it will be cheaper than a new car... PLUS.. you will have a %26quot;new engine%26quot; that you dont have to worry about for a while.I have a 1987 oldsmobile cutlass supreme with over 300,000 miles on it?
Sounds terminal to me. I'll bet the piston rings and/or valve guides are completely shot. It's going to take an engine rebuild to fix it. You could find a used engine and have it installed to save some money. 300K is amazing and proof that American cars are pretty darned good.I have a 1987 oldsmobile cutlass supreme with over 300,000 miles on it?
It could be the carb screwing up and giving way to much fuel. Try putting it in park and hold the gas with the rpms high for a while and see if the smoke goes away.I have a 1987 oldsmobile cutlass supreme with over 300,000 miles on it?
You should get rid of it, it is only giving you problems and if I were you I wouldn't even put up with it anymore!

Hope this Helps!I have a 1987 oldsmobile cutlass supreme with over 300,000 miles on it?
your rings have collapsed,I got a little to hot.run a compression test.rebuild the motor or get a new one.I have a 1987 oldsmobile cutlass supreme with over 300,000 miles on it?
Whatever has gone wrong involves valves or piston rings. Repairing either usually requires removal of the cylinder heads and the labour costs alone for that type of job exceed the value of your car.
